Zerreau Towel-off Shampoo Foam Review

Zerreau Towel-off Shampoo Review

It’s festival season, which means that there’s one thing on every gal’s mind - dry shampoo. I must admit, I’ve never really been a dry shampoo fan as it always seems to make my hair sticky and even more tangle-prone than normal. However, for every festival I attend, I diligently pack a bottle or two, just in case I get desperate. (The three hour plus queues to the showers every day are just too much to bare…) I’ve often thought that surely there’s a better option than traditional dry shampoo - a sticky, overly scented powder, and finally, there is - Zerreau Towel-off Shampoo Foam.

Zerreau Towel-off Shampoo Foam Tried & Tested

The brain-child of a Gloucestershire based family business that specialises in water-less innovations, Zerreau is a ‘dry’ shampoo with a difference. The main difference being that it wets your hair to remove dirt, grease, and product build-up, instead of simply masking it. The fruit-scented foam is meant to give all the effectiveness of normal washing, but in a much more convenient way. Because of this, it’s ideal for festivals, camping, holidays, or simply for saving time on a hectic morning. Available in two fruity scents - apple and strawberry, the shampoo is perfect for those of us who lead busy lives but still want great smelling hair! What I love about Zerreau Towel-off Shampoo is the fact that unlike so many other products, it hasn’t been tested on animals. As well as being cruelty-free, it’s also paraben, alcohol and triclosan free!

I was lucky enough to be sent four 70ml bottles of Zerreau in Apple to try, and so, for the past week I’ve been putting its cleansing powers to the test.

Housed in a fancy-looking bottle with a pump dispenser and a blue, white, silver, and green colour scheme, Zerreau is an appealing product. I love the style of the packaging; it’s beautifully smart and sleek. I’m also a fan of the pump as I always find that I tend to overuse pour-able products.

To test Zerreau Towel-off shampoo to the max, I decided that the best thing to do was let my hair get super greasy and gross. (Not something I do regularly, but for the purpose of this review, it was necessary!) I waited for three days after washing it and then put this cleansing foam to the test - I normally wash my hair every other day, so you can imagine the mess my hair was in!

I started off by brushing my hair - it’s rather tangle prone so I wanted to see how the foam would affect it tangle wise. Then, as directed on the bottle, I sectioned off my hair and applied a few pumps of the foam directly to the roots. (I loved the delicate apple scent that the product has, it’s so beautifully fresh and fruity.) Using my fingertips, I then slowly massaged it in, before using a clean towel to remove all the excess foam. My hair was left damp, so as directed, I allowed it to dry naturally.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with the results - I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised. Although it took a while to dry and went a little hard to begin with, after a quick brush my hair looked wonderfully shiny and clean. The foam cleansed my hair, absorbing most of the dirt, grease, and grime. It felt soft and well conditioned, not dry and sticky like some dry shampoos leave it. My hair is super fine but there’s lots of it, and it’s seriously prone to tangling. In fact, whenever I use dry shampoo it ends up matted, so I was seriously impressed when Zerreau left it tangle-free.

I liked the fact that the foam’s scent lingered on my hair, keeping it smelling fresh all day. I am also a big fan of how easy Zerreau is to use - a couple of pumps and a little massaging and you’re all done. My hair was left looking clean, shiny and tangle-free. While it’s not something I would use on an everyday basis as an alternative to washing my hair, Zerreau will definitely be making it into my beauty bag for the next festival, camping trip, or holiday that I go on. I might even use it on those mornings where I want an extra 15 minutes in bed and can’t be bothered to wash my hair!

Zerreau Towel-off Shampoo Foam, £3.99 for 70ml or £7.95 for 180ml, available for the Zerreau website, as well as Superdrug, Amazon, Sainsbury’s, and Chemist Direct.
