Vetements - The 411

One of the most talked about brands around at the moment is Vetements.
The Parisian brand started in 2014 and shares its Creative Director, Demna Gvasalia with Balenciaga. It's weird when you compare Balenciaga to Vetements but whatever, this is fashion.
Gvasalia has said that the clothes are made by his friends, for his friends. You kind of get that vibe from the collections that the brand doesn't really care about being beautiful or pretty. Actually, Gvasalia even said "it's ugly, that's why we like it" and there's some truth behind that as to why the brand has become to successful - it's so un-fashion, that's it's fashion.

Oversized, slogans ("Are we having fun yet?") and nonchalant designs in general are so far removed from what we love about luxury fashion and the other ridiculously successful brands at the moment, like Balmain.
At Vetements, you won't find any body-con, you won't find elaborate detailing and a collection centred on a sexy powerful woman and celebrating their female body - Vetements is the opposite.
Vetements doesn't care...and that seems to be part of its charm.
Just to get you up to speed Vetements made a t-shirt with the DHL logo, incase you've ever had the urge to rip the t-shirt off of your courier. And naturally, Vetements knows how to charge, that DHL t-shirt retailed for £185...you might be better ripping it off of your courier's back...

Have you heard about Vetements? What do you think of the brand?
