Hedi Slimane Leaves Saint Laurent Paris

After four years at Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane is officially stepping down as Creative Director.
Since 2012, Hedi transformed the brand from the Yves Saint Laurent generation, to Saint Laurent Paris with a new woman at the centre of the brand: a tailored, rock-inspired confident woman.
Hedi made a huge mark in such a short time, and the AW16 collection which was shown just last month in Paris will be his last.

The collection was 80s rock chic. The models descended down flights of stairs at (what was) Hedi's new couture atelier, to no music at all but an announcement of each model's exit (an ode to an haute couture tradition). Each chair was personalised with an embossed plaque on the seat and the collection was sharp, and strong.

The Saint Laurent tailoring game is always strong, and Hedi's last collection was no exception. Shoulder pads were not to be messed with, waists were cinched with belts and accompanying loooowwwww necklines.
There were sequins, and bold, beautiful furs in cobalt and crimson, it was studio 54 on another level.
The make up was so snatched to match the strength of the clothes - slick backed hair paired with a black winged smokey eye and a red lip (classic Saint Laurent).

What do you think of the collection?
